Uncommon. v, [1], (7)-518 pages + iv pages of contents at rear + 4 of 5 maps (all folding, the fifth map, of the West Indies, was possibly never issued) + two views (of Madeira and of Teneriffe). Lacking the Map of the West Indies and the two portrait plates of Prince Henry and Albuqueque. Page dimensions: 260 x 205mm. Contemporary owner's signature of"John Polloc[k?]"on front pastedown. Preliminary leaves very worn and chipped at margins. All leaves up to page 10 detached. Spine missing. Front board attached with old cloth. Contemporary papered boards very worn. Heavy dust stains and marks to page edges. A few scrapes and knocks to top page edges. With light to moderate foxing internally. Corners of some leaves a little creased or dog-eared. Most of the maps are in poor condition with very large tears, but could be improved with some repairs (no repairs have been carried out, except for an old paper repair to the blank inner margin of the first map). The plates of Madeira and Tenerife are in good condition. The map of the East Indies is in good condition, but with some misfolds.
